Ireland
Since 2008 Ireland has been a major sponsor of Sacred Art of Living workshops. SALC is proud to have been a significant influence for end of life caregivers. The Anamcara Apprenticeship is bringing the Celtic Spiritual Tradition to spiritual seekers all over the world.
Our work and Inspiration in Ireland
Richard and Mary Groves began their work in Ireland in 2007 at the Moving Points in Palliative Care Conference at Dublin Castle. As a result of this the leadership at Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, one of Europe’s oldest health care institutions, invited the Groves to begin offering their Art of Living & Dying workshop series at the hospice.
Their mutual regard evolved into Europe’s first pilot site which continued for more than ten years. Hundreds of participants from all over Ireland and from many other European countries attended and some of these went on to develop programme venues in Sligo, Cork, Westport, Glendalough and Northern Ireland.
Richard has been a guest faculty speaker at Trinity College and many local conferences. In time, Ireland became the host country for The Anamcara Project, a deep end apprenticeship in the sacred arts of living and dying.
In 2022 Ireland is joining Canada, the US and other countries around the world for a special version of the International Anamcara Apprenticeship series. A team of Irish facilitators has been formed who are now co-presenting Sacred Art of Living Centre workshops which will ensure the continued growth of our work and mission into the future.

Debbie Hayden & Mary Groves
An International Friendship
When Richard and Mary met Debbie Hayden, Nurse Tudor at Our Lady’s Hospice Education Centre, they were inspired to bring the work of Sacred Art of Living Centre to Ireland. The hospitality offered to programme facilitators from Sacred Art of Living Centre, was an “unsurpassable blessing,” in the words of Mary Groves. Debbie Hayden continues to inspire the Sacred Art of Living work and mission in Ireland to this day.
