An Apprenticeship in the Art, Science & Practice of Sacred Relationship

This confidential application form consists of 4 sections:

  1. Personal Details
  2. Written Reflection
  3. Recommendations
  4. Checklist & Agreement

Before starting this application read through the form and gather the information you will need. When complete, sign the application and the Data Protection & Confidentiality Agreement and send to anamcara@sacredartofliving.org. Your $100 application fee must be paid online at the time of submitting your application. A link is provided on the bottom of this application.

At the heart of the Anamcara tradition is a quality called ‘soulfulness’. Becoming Anamcara apprentices are asked to consider what it means to be faithful to a spiritual path (not necessarily formal religious membership), including regular contemplative practice.

The following questions will help us better understand your interests and abilities and will assist in the design of modules / tracks for Year Two.

Section 2 Written Reflection

Respecting the spiritual nature of the Anamcara tradition, the application process does not focus on issues of personal worthiness, professional credentials, or academic achievement. Readiness to become an Anamcara apprentice is based on vocation, life experience, spiritual maturity, and community needs. The following written reflections allow you to articulate your motives and reasons for applying to Becoming Anamcara. The Anamcara experience is as much about your own spiritual journey as it is about how you work with those whom you serve. It is recommended that you take each question to prayer/reflection or contemplation before responding. A straightforward response from your heart is more valuable than a calculated answer. IMPORTANT Reflections should be a maximum of 50 words per question!

Section 3 Recommendations

Applicants for Becoming Anamcara need two recommendations (one personal and one professional) to be submitted to complete their application. PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION - i.e. someone within your immediate circle of family or friends who is willing to support your application to Becoming Anamcara in terms of the commitment to time and energy that will be required.

PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDATION – i.e. someone willing to provide an endorsement for your participation in Becoming Anamcara such as someone with whom you have worked professionally or with whom you have served in a volunteer capacity. This person should testify to your ability to complete the requirements of the apprenticeship.

Please stress with your referees the importance of submitting their recommendation as quickly as possible to expedite your application process. Section 4 Agreement & Checklist

Agreement re Data Protection and Confidentiality By submitting this application form to Sacred Art of Living Center and by checking below you acknowledge and consent to the following conditions of participation in Becoming Anamcara.
  1. Data Protection Your application is submitted directly by you to the Sacred Art of Living Center (SALC). Your personal data will be collected and processed in the context of your Becoming Anamcara application, registration and participation in the apprenticeship. Your personal data retained by SALC will not be shared with any other third party.

  2. Confidentiality Becoming Anamcara involves work in small groups. What is disclosed within the group remains confidential, unless there are serious concerns about safety for the members of the group or for others outside of the group. Confidentiality may be broken if a risk of harm is disclosed. This includes if someone is or is at risk of being neglected or physically, emotionally or sexually abused or if a member of the group is at risk of harming themselves or somebody else.
